Two Zimbabweans Return From India With COVID-19

Two Zimbabwean nationals who recently returned from India were among the 25 new coronavirus cases recorded on Thursday, 13 May 2021.

According to the Ministry of Health and Childcare’s daily COVID-19 situation report, 23 of the 25 new cases were local while the other two were returnees from India.

According to records, India has been ravaged by the virus and has already recorded more than 338 000 new cases and nearly 4 000 deaths as of yesterday.

It has 24 million cases and 262 000 deaths but 20 million people have recovered.

Zimbabwe recorded 38 491 cases and 1 582 deaths including three who died yesterday. Only nine recoveries were recorded.

10 078 received their first vaccine dose yesterday bringing cumulative for the first dose to 559 875 while 11 577 received their second dose bringing cumulative for the second dose to 192 145.

As of 12 May 2021, there were 13 hospitalised cases: 0 asymptomatic, 6 mild to moderate, 5 severe and 2 in Intensive Care Units.
