Zimbabwe cricket star Ryan Burl has landed sponsorship from global sportswear giant Puma following a heartfelt appeal on social media.
This is after the batsman sent out an appeal on social media begging for sponsorship. Burl shared an image of his battered shoes and revealed that he has to glue them together after every single series.
Writing on Twitter, Burl said,
“Any chance we can get a sponsor so we don’t have to glue our shoes back after every series?”
He also tagged the manufacturer of his sneakers in the post.
The tweet received a lot of attention and engagement on social media. German sportswear manufacturer Puma noticed Burl’s plea and promptly answered his call for aid. Puma said that it was now time for Burl to put the glue away as they had him covered.
“Time to put the glue away, I got you covered,”
Burl also confirmed that he will be joining the Puma team and thanked his fans and followers.
“I am so proud to announce that I’ll be joining the @pumacricket team. This is all due to the help and support from the fans over the last 24 hours. I couldn’t be more grateful to you all. Thanks so much.”
Ryan Burl has played three Tests, 18 ODIs, and 25 T20Is since making his international debut in 2017. He last played on April 25 in the third T20I between Zimbabwe and Pakistan.
Puma has been receiving a lot of plaudits on social media following their decision to answer Burl’s cries for sponsorship. Talismanic former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh gave Puma a thumbs up for the gesture saying that he is proud of them.
