Villagers from Gomana area in Zivhu were left shocked after remains (torso and head) believed to be of a newly born baby were found being eaten by dogs at Mandiudza Homestead yesterday.
Kudakwashe Zivhu who is the Village Head confirmed the shocking news to Two Nations in a telephone interview.He said Tangai Mandiudza woke up and found his puppy playing around with an object near a footpath and upon approaching the place he discovered that it was a newly born baby’s body.
After informing others, the body was covered with shrubs to stop dogs from further eating it.
The Police were called and they collected the remains.
“This is shocking and we are busy looking for the culprit because it appears someone gave birth yesterday and dumped the baby. It is a sad incident in our village,” said Zivhu.
Masvingo Police spokesperson Inspector, Kudakwashe Dhewa said he had not received the report when approached by the publication for a comment.
iHarare also reported that a 31-year-old married woman appeared before Gutu Magistrate Mitchell Panavanhu facing allegations of killing a man she had an extramarital affair with.
Pretty Mbikiza is being charged with the murder of Owen Munyanyi on May 10 this year.
Prosecutor Ratchel Murape alleges that on May 10 at Dewure, Ministry of Transport Gutu Depot staff quarters, Mbikiza assaulted the deceased, who was her boyfriend, with an unknown blunt object on the neck, chest and abdomen, whilst he was unaware.
iHarare had also reported that a police officer from Kuwadzana was arrested for stabbing two men with a knife after he lost a bet at 3 AM.
Constable Praise Moyo, 31, was not asked to plead as he was charged with two counts of attempted murder when he appeared before Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi last week.
